The day was December 12, 2009, I got up earlier than normal for me on a Saturday. But, this day, I had two things to accomplish. First, join, or I guess I should say rejoin, Weight Watchers. Second, my first session with a personal trainer for water aerobics.
Weight Watchers® works and it works for me. I know this. So, I entered the WW building and joined. I stepped on the scales knowing that my weight was somewhere around 400 pounds. Yep, sure enough.......408. There is it. As far as I know, my highest weight. Several years ago when I joined WW at 397 pounds, I had a friend who said I should have gone and eaten a pizza the night before so that I could say I started my journey at 400 pounds. She thought that was funny. I didn't then and I certainly don't now. Well, I guess my friend is happy now. I officially start my journey at 408 and it didn't even take a pizza the night before to push the scales over that "landmark."
WOW, I get a whopping 44 points per day. That's way more than the last time I was a member. And then, I had a hard time getting in all my daily points. What in the world will I do with 44 points?? Once I make the decision to do something about my weight, lots of food choices must fall by the wayside--fast food hamburgers, french fries, fried chicken, fried okra, milkshakes, ice cream, potato chips, Snickers, Twix, etc, etc, etc. My daily 44 points much be from choices like fish, chicken, veggies, milk (without "shaking" it up....heehee), fruit, fish, good carbs, etc, etc, etc.
Oh, and activity.............activity must be added. I am not an active person, never have been. However, I joined the YMCA for the sole use of the indoor swimming pool in January 2009. So, after joining WW this morning, I head to the Y to put on my swimsuit and get in the pool and wait for my first class one-on-one with a personal trainer. I've been doing water aerobics for about a year now, but that was with a class. How different will it be to have the sole attention of the instructor? Can't hold back with the instructor standing right there at me.
So, here we go!! I got up early on December 12, 2009 with two things to accomplish:
- Join WW - done.......check.
- First class with personal trainer - done.........check.
What am I feeling right now? I'm "feeling" lots of good choices on the horizon. I'm feeling very grateful that I made the choice earlier this week to open up during a chat while we were working our farms in Farm Town with one of my Facebook buddies and share my thoughts about "going on a diet." During that conversation, she prayed a powerful prayer that I am convinced was the push I needed to move forward with my plans to make the commitment to choose health. I have made the choice to begin my journey down the scales and up to health. The choice is, indeed, mine!!
