Hupomeno Defined: Greek, verb -- meno, "to abide," is rendered "to endure" in the KJV of John 6:27 and 1 Pet. 1:25 (RV, "abideth"); Heb. 10:34, KJV, "enduring (substance)," RV, "abiding."; hupomeno, a strengthened form of meno, denotes "to abide under, to bear up courageously" (under suffering), Matt. 10:22; 24:13; Mark 13:13; Rom. 12:12, translated "patient"; 1 Cor. 13:7; 2 Tim. 2:10,12 (KJV, "suffer"); Heb. 10:32; 12:2-3,7; Jas. 1:12; 5:11; 1 Pet. 2:20, "ye shall take it patiently." For me personally, it means when going through trials and tribulations, I choose to bear up courageously under the watchful, loving care of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

WOW!! What a week, and it's only Tuesday evening....

Remember my challenge from WW class to try something new this week? I chose blueberries and cherry tomatoes. Well, I decided to tackle it head on—Monday morning!!! I packed blueberries with my lunch. Lunch for the day was grilled chicken breast, roasted veggies (summer squash, zucchini and asparagus), roasted sweet potatoes, brown rice, strawberries, blueberries and water.

Remember my challenge from WW class to try something new this week? I chose blueberries and cherry tomatoes? Well, I decided to tackle it head on—Monday morning!!! I packed blueberries with my lunch. Lunch for the day was grilled chicken breast, roasted veggies (summer squash, zucchini and asparagus), roasted sweet potatoes, brown rice, strawberries, blueberries and water.

Well, well………….blueberries aren’t that bad. Taste is pretty good, even when mixed with the strawberries left on my teeth. Heehee!! I might have found a new fruit to enjoy. Definitely not ready to eat them like I eat grapes or watermelon or cantaloupe or bananas…….but will add them to my grocery list every once in a while. Somebody suggested to eat them frozen. Gonna try that.

Blueberries – check.
On to the cherry tomatoes……….

July 27th continued to be a day of trying new things. I headed to the Y after work for a session with my trainer, Cathy. However, as I was stepping into the dressing room to put on my swimsuit, I heard the long whistle and the words, "get out of the pool." Oh well, I headed back to the lobby and sat at the table to see about waiting it out.

My phone rang at 4:48 PM………”Cathy YMCA” was on the screen. Conversation went something like this:
Cathy – Where are you?
Cynthia – At the Y, sitting at a table in the lobby hoping the storm will pass quickly so I can go home. Couldn’t find my umbrella in the van. So, I’m stuck waiting on the rain to stop.
Cathy – Good you’re at the Y already. Looks like we’re not going to get to swim, so go get on one of the machines in there and get moving.
Cynthia – But, I have on long pants and flip-flops.
Cathy – Your point?
Cynthia – Not dressed appropriately.
Cathy – Too bad, go get on one of the machines and get moving.
Cynthia – What do I do with my two bags?
Cathy – Oh, you don’t have a lock
Cynthia – Welllllll, yes.
Cathy – Cynthia!!!! All you got are excuses. Put your bags in a locker and GO get on one of the machines and get moving. Do not waste this trip to the Y. GO!!!
Cynthia – Cathy???...........
Cathy – What?????? Do not waste this trip to the Y.
Cynthia – But, I……..
Cathy – GO!! Don’t leave until you do something on one of the machines in there.

Call dropped…….uuuuggghhhh!!!! WHY did I even answer that call???? I should have known she’d say something like that.

So, I sat and struggled with going into “the room” where all the machines and buffed bodies are. I struggled and struggled. Rain continued to POUR outside, thunder shaking the building and lightening seemed to be coming through the windows/doors. UUGGGHHHH!!!! Not able to leave in this weather, so I sat and struggled with following the instructions of my trainer. UUUGGGHHHH!!!!!

Text messages with my trainer:
Cynthia, 5:59 PM – OK…..I did it!! Now, come and carry me to my van. ;) Don’t like that room….you sweat in there and can’t go under!!! Road something called SciFit….like recumbent…..for 15 minutes, 2 miles! Legs and arms are shaking and feel like jelly!! Still POURING here.
Cathy, 6:00 PM – Yeah!!!!! Great job!! Now, doesn’t that feel great???!!!! So proud of you!!! I know that can be intimidating!!
Cynthia, 6:02 PM – Very intimidating!! Don’t feel great yet…..
Cathy, 6:01 PM – News says 1 inch hail and 80 mph winds out there.
Cynthia, 6:05 PM – I believe it!! It’s bad out there! And I could not find my umbrella in the van…..uuuuggghhhhhhh!!

CHOICES!!! The choices I have made this week are to eat something new and different and drink more water. Have eaten blueberries and been drinking mostly water throughout the day. Cherry tomatoes are next.

Another significant choice that I made, which was not preplanned, was to enter the room at the Y where all the exercise machines and buffed bodies are. I could have chosen not to enter that room. Yes, choosing not to follow my trainer’s instructions was one of my choices. It was completely and totally my choice. I chose to move out of my comfort zone........and, I survived. I like those choices. Those choices are mine, all mine!!!!
